A South Cumbrian brewery is gearing up for its first three-day festival of music, crafts and culture.
Landmarks, at Gan Yam Brewery in Kendal, will be held between December 2 and December 4.
Organisers promise live music, DJs, craft stalls, an exhibition, talks and more at the event, and each festival going forward will have a theme.
The inaugural event’s theme is home and the brewery will work alongside an artist who will exhibit work and design a one-off seasonal beer to be launched at the festival.
For Landmarks, Gan Yam has commissioned Juliet Klottrup, whose work explores themes of youth, landscape, community, rurality, tradition and the relationship between people and place.
On Saturday the brewery will be transformed into an exhibition space to display Juliet’s work and the first Landmarks beer will launched. Called Home, it is a 10 per cent barley wine brewed with oak chips and featuring exclusive artwork designed by Juliet.
Morecambe Bay Chowder Co are providing food for the afternoon and there will be a host of local craft stalls.
On Sunday, four speakers will take to the stage for a recorded Q&A – which will be used in the brewery’s new podcast. Man Booker Prize nominated author Sarah Hall, artist in residence Juliet, graphic designer Mark Edwards (DR.ME) and acclaimed local author Keith Richardson will explore their relationship to home and their lives and work.
Live music will come from acts Meadow Meadow and lilo on Friday night in a ticketed event.
