Workington Reds will face NPL West leaders Macclesfield on Tuesday – but there’s only one focus for the West Cumbrians.
They need to beat City of Liverpool at Borough tomorrow to maintain their recent run and manager Danny Grainger will have an unchanged squad to pick from.
“City of Liverpool got beat 5-0 last week by Leek but had been on a decent run and will want to bounce back.
“We need to be at our best to get the points and that’s all we are looking at. Greg McCarragher is making progress, training with the squad and we are looking at getting him some minutes in the County Cup game coming up in a fortnight.
“Robbie Hebson has also had a long time out and that’s his target as well. Ben Hughes is the other long-terms absentee and it’s just slow progress at the moment.”
Reds are third in a clutch of three clubs on 20 points currently trailing Macclesfield (24) and Mossley (21). All have played 11 games apart from Mossley who have played one more.
City of Liverpool are fourth bottom with one win from their six away games.
They will be unveiling a former Reds player tomorrow – winger Joe Mwasile who had two spells at Borough Patk, playing 17 times.
He has had a nomadic career since starting with Morecambe in 2011 and now aged 29, has moved to the Purps after his third spell with Nantwich Town.
