Barrow have recovered their mojo after a blip in form had seen them slip from second to half-way.
A second home win in a row, from one of their best performances to beat Crewe 3-0, has hoisted them back up to fifth in the play-off places.
Barrow were well worth the points, looking far more dangerous and also secure at the back despite the possession stats heavily in Crewe’s favour.
Billy Waters grabbed the opener to follow his winner in mid-week against Grimsby as he previously hadn’t scored since the opening game.
This time it came after only eight minutes when he thumped a cross from Ben Whitfield into the roof of the net from close range.
It was Whitfield who provided the assist for the second goal two minutes before half-time.
A glorious ball behind the back line and in front of goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo, saw Josh Gordon sliding in to double the Barrow lead.
Okonkwo had earlier done well to deny Whitfield twice and also prevented Waters from grabbing a second goal.
Crewe’s did have one really good to get back into the game before Barrow’s second but Tariq Uwakwe skied the ball over the bar from close in.
Gordon, after a spell on the subs bench, has returned a hungry player and he did well to score a second which clinched the game on the hour.
He dispossessed defender Zac Williams on the halfway line and raced through before drilling the ball beyond Okonkwo into the bottom corner.
In stoppage time, Sam Foley almost got a fourth for the Bluebirds. Spotting Okonkwo off his line he tried a speculative effort from half-way but the Crewe keeper did really well to get back and tip it over the bar.
