Barrow striker Billy Waters feels he’s now more like the player he was for manager Pete Wild at Halifax last season.
Waters cracked in the opening goal in the 3-0 win over Crewe on Saturday to give him two in the last two games.
He says: “It’s been something of a stop-start season for me with injuries but I feel now that I’m playing with more confidence.
“Tthe only way to gain momentum and confidence is by playing games.
“So, luckily since I have come back in, each game I’m getting sharper and I feel more like the player I was last season.”
He netted 21 times at Halifax and feels the confidence is returning, so is keenly looking forward to Tuesday night’s home clash with Colchester.
Waters had opened Barrow’s tally against Crewe with a lovely strike, volleying home Ben Whitfield’s cross after only eight minutes.
“It’s something we’ve talked about in training, arriving late to get on the end of Ben’s crosses. It seemed to be in the air a long time but I was able to keep my eye on it and connect properly. on the volley,” he revealed.
Discussing Barrow’s season so far he said: “We started the season really well to go second but then lost four in a row. Teams can sometimes go into freefall but we have stopped that and are moving up again so everything is positive.”
