Cockermouth made it two wins on the bounce as they overcame Whitehaven Amateurs in the Conway Cup quarter final.
A double from Cockermouth’s top scorer Luke Graham and goals from Kyran Bertram and Brett Smith gave the visitors a 4-0 win.
That sets up a semi-final with either Cleator Moor Celtic Reserves or Aspatria who face each other this coming Saturday.
Carlisle City Development also moved into the semi-final with a 21-0 romp over Silloth who could only field seven players. Credit goes to the Seagulls for playing the game though they will perhaps wish they hadn’t.
Ellis Dickinson scored four and there were hat tricks for Bobby Dixon and Alex Cairns. Ethan Scott, Robbie Cowley and Duhaine Thompson all grabbed doubles and the scoring was rounded off by Adam Gordon, Tom McDonald and Tom Hickey.
Silloth will be hoping that things get easier as the season goes on following a torrid start to the season which has seen them concede more than 100 goals in just 7 games.
In the Premier League the top two both recorded victories to maintain their strong start to the season.
Wigton beat third place Workington Reserves 3-1 at Barton Laws with goals from Sam Irving, Adam Cox and Ryan Hanley. Ben Davidson replied for Workington.
UniSun hit seven against Whitehaven Miners as last season’s promoted teams faced off at Harraby 3G.
A Dave Barnes hat trick inside 28 minutes gave the Scholars the perfect start as the evergreen striker made it six for the season.
Shane Dorward added a fourth in the first half before second half substitute Luke Firth added two and the superb Dillon Burns capped a fine individual performance by getting on the scoresheet.
Windcale Reserves v Cleator Moor Celtic Reserves, which was scheduled for Wednesday night, has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
This weekend sees more County Cup action with Wigton hosting UniSun Athletic; Cockermouth playing local rivals Keswick and Westmorland League sides Langwathby United and Greystoke meeting each other for a place in the quarter final.
