The student involved in an incident at a West Cumbrian school has returned home.
The youngster was involved in an incident at West Lakes Academy in Egremont on Thursday, November 10. No details have been released about it, but emergency services were called and an independent health and safety investigation has been launched.
Principal Abby Deeks has written to parents to update them on the situation.
Increased supervision of pupils in corridors beside the building’s ‘voids’ has been implemented, the school said and it is hoped the investigation will be completed in the next week and will be published as soon as possible.
Ms Deeks said: “The student is now back at home and being supported by family and professionals.”
An educational psychologist is at the Main Street academy to support pupils and care plans for vulnerable students have been reviewed to ensure their safety ‘as far as the school can’, Ms Deeks added.
Staff have also been supported, she added, with access to counselling and mental health first aiders.
