Although a glorious sunny morning, conditions were not easy underfoot for the popular Loopy Latrigg fell race.
It’s the first of the five part Kong Adventure series and previous heavy rain had made the course tricky.
A good field of 181 runners took part in the opener and they were led in by Keswick’s John Battrick in 38 minutes 55 seconds, which was 12 seconds ahead of the Ambleside runner Gavin Dale.
Keswick AC’s Mark Lamb was the third man home in 39:17 while first of the over 40s Steven Hebblethwaite made it a good day for the Keswick club by finishing fifth.
Indeed, on home territory, the club had six of the first 10 runners back home.
First woman was Emma Gould of Helm Hill Runners who was 15th in 45:08.
