A family-owned Cumbrian business will donate £1 for every skip hired to a Carlisle young people’s charity for the next year.
North West Recycling, the region’s largest private skip hire and recycling company, is restarting the charity initiative and is backing Carlisle Youth Zone over the next 12 months.
This year, the Brampton-based firm delivered nearly 20,000 skips to customers, and it said the prospective level of monthly payments to the charity is potentially game-changing.
Carlisle Youth Zone opened in 2011 and supported almost 15,000 young people.
The purpose-built facility is open six nights a week as a safe and fun space where the potential of any young person aged 12-18 or 25 with an additional need, is developed and fulfilled.
Emma Rogerson, development co-ordinator at Carlisle Youth Zone, said “A donation of this magnitude really does make a massive difference to us a charity and to the lives of local children. As a charity we rely on the generosity of people and local businesses who support CYZ via fundraising or by making regular donations. We are delighted to welcome North West Recycling to the Youth Zone’s network of businesses who have stepped up to support Carlisle’s young people.”
Founded in 1995 as Brampton Skip Hire, North West Recycling has evolved over the years and its flagship 30-acre Rockcliffe HQ now delivers fully integrated waste processing capability on one site, including collection, disposal, purpose-built recycling facility and the production of Solid Recovered Fuel material.
Rick Allan, owner of North West Recycling, said: “We are really pleased to be able to support such an important local project as the Carlisle Youth Zone, so many children are not fortunate enough to have the love and support of a caring family. The good work that the Youth Zone does for the kids of Carlisle is immense, offering them a fun and productive space for them to just be themselves.
“We are incredibly proud to be from the local area, to be Cumbrians handling the region’s waste and anything we can give back , be it job creation, charitable support or environmental initiatives, we will.”
