Christmas came to Brampton as thousands of people gathered to see the procession through the town and the switching on of lights, and of course the famous
camels!
The procession left the town’s Showfield carpark at 4.45pm led by town crier Brian Pease, followed by Father Christmas being transported by the town’s Rotary Club and then the nativity characters, from Brampton Primary School, with their donkey people walking from several local groups and of course the three camels, being ridden by local people.
The procession stopped at the Shoulder of Mutton pub as Mary and Joseph asked if there was any room at the inn and were told there wasn’t, the procession moved on to the town’s marketplace where the Christmas lights were switched on at 5pm by a local child whose name had been drawn out of a hat.

Before the lights were switched on, chair of Brampton Parish Council Jenni Errington thanked everyone who had contributed to the day’s events.
As well as all of this there had been entertainment on the main stage from 3pm, various street performers, a small funfair, stalls and many food and drink outlets.

It even turned into a white Christmas as snow fell on Front Street, courtesy of a little bit of magic from Mr Brown’s cafe, who had a snow machine
in an upstairs window.
