The Santa Express will be in Barrow this weekend offering free train rides across the town.
Thanks to Barrow BID, people will be able to hop on and off the Santa Express at four stations in the town centre – Barrow Town Square, outside The Forum;
Dalton Road, by the statue; Outside Tailors Bar & Lounge on Dalton Road and Abbey Road, opposite Barrow Library.
The train will run from 10am till 4pm both days – with covered carriages in case of bad weather.
There will also be musical entertainment throughout the town, mulled wine tasting at the indoor market, and possibly even a visit to the town centre from Santa himself!
It coincides with film showings of the Polar Express at the Forum, organised by Barrow BID. Every child attending will be able to exchange their train ticket for a goodie bag provided by Got in Covered in the Market Ginel.
Rowen McClure, BID director, said: “We really hope people choo choo choose Barrow town centre this weekend to ride the Santa Express. As a BID, we have wanted to do an event like this for a couple of years now, so it’s great that we have finally been able to deliver on this and provide an experience that hasn’t
been seen before in Barrow. All aboard the Santa Express!”
Paul Hodgson, BID project manager, added: “With the soaring cost of living that we are all experiencing, we really wanted to put on an event that the whole family could enjoy, that would support town centre businesses without needing visitors to pay out extra money to attend.
“With the Santa Express offering free train rides, coupled with a wide range of entertainment throughout the town, we really hope that people visit and see that our town centre does really have a lot to offer this Christmas.”
