The Chippie Van

A Cumbrian fish and chip van is in the running to be named the best in the country in prestigious national industry awards.

The Chippe Van, which visits villages across Eden, has been shortlisted in the mobile category of the National Fish and Chip Awards 2023.

Run by Angel Lane Chippie, it also caters for events. It made the top five after judging by a panel of experts.

Owner Dan Harding said: “We are over the moon to reached this far. It has been a difficult year and continues to have challenges. This really shows our teams hard work and dedication to bringing the best fish and chip fayre to our local communities.”

The National Federation of Fish Friers organises the awards. President Andrew Crook said: “Mobile vans and trailers provide a vital service in many rural areas and at weddings and other key life events.

“They often represent the industry with customers that may not regularly visit a fish and chip shop, so it is great to see these businesses producing amazing fish and chips and striving for excellence!”

The awards will be held on February 28 in London.
