Holker Old Boys reached the fourth round of the FA Vase for the first time when they beat Squire’s Gate 4-2 at Rakesmoor Lane.
It stemmed from an impressive start when they scored three goals in the first 18 minutes as it proved to be an exciting and entertaining contest.
William McGladdery fired them in front after only four minutes before Jamie Hodgson doubled the advantage on 13 minutes.
Although the visitors pulled one back through Harrison Webb, a third goal on 18 minutes from veteran Jason Walker put the hosts back in charge.
When Tom Dawson made it 4-1 on 63 minutes it looked done and dusted but Squire’s Gate put in a strong finish and had opportunities before James Boyd knocked home a penalty in the 86th minute.
It was an outstanding effort by the Furness side who are now looking forward to Monday’s draw to find out their opponents in the last 32 of the prestigious national competition.
