Barrow’s Josh Kay must serve a six-match ban after being found in breach of an FA rule.
He was sent off on Saturday September 24 in a top of the table battle with Leyton Orient which the Londoners won 2-0.
Although he has served a two-match ban already that has now been extended to six games by a Football Association panel.
Kay had made a personal appeal but he was found in breach of FA Rule E3.2 with aggravating factors.
The Bluebirds said in a statement that it has followed its own internal disciplinary procedures, and is also working with the player on education programmes.
The 25-year-old Kay was sent off in what proved to be Barrow’s first home defeat of the season.
No evidence from the latest hearing has been released but at the time the Barrow manager Pete Wild said the referee maintained that Kay has used discriminatory language.
In his interview at the time Wild added: “We spoke to their player and he was quite clear that Josh didn’t, so it will go to the FA and we’ll see what happens.”
