A man has been charged with attempted murder.
A woman has been left in a critical condition following a stabbing on Ellesmere Way on December 17.
Matthew Ryan, 38, of Bannisadale Way, Carlisle, was charged and is to appear at North and West Magistrates today, December 20.
A woman in her 50s remains in hospital and her condition is described as critical.
