Striker Ryan Edmondson dislocated his shoulder in Carlisle United’s 2-1 defeat at Northampton.
It completed a double blow for the Cumbrians in a game where they had taken the lead five minutes into the second half.
The 21-year-old, on loan from Leeds United, played with the Cobblers for part of the the 2020-21 season scoring twice in 21 games, in what was his second spell away from Elland Road gaining League experience.
For the Blues Edmondson has netted five times in 15 appearances and manager Paul Simpson has acknowledged it is a massive blow for both player and club.
Simpson said: “The doctor at Northampton did a brilliant job and popped it back in for him, so we’ll see.
“I don’t know if it’s a scan or an X-ray, but no doubt he’ll have to see a specialist about that.
“I think he’s just starting to find his feet and look a real threat so that’s a blow he’ll probably be missing for a while.”
As for his view on the match Simpson was critical of the mad six minutes which cost the team two crucial goals – but also felt hard done to by some decisions by the officials.
“Unfortunately if you have a spell like we did for five or six minutes – or whatever the timings were between the two goals – against a team who consistently cause you problems, then you’re not going to win games.
“I thought we scored a really good goal, but unfortunately I think the linesman has been swayed for the goal he’s disallowed because the crowd abused him for that first one.
“That was actually a correct decision, because McGowan played Jack Ellis on by probably a minimum of five yards. He definitely wasn’t offside.
“That got us in front but we didn’t deal with a little spell after that where we gave the ball away cheaply. We lunged into tackles, we lost our focus and they got their goals.
“Then when Tobi Sho-Silva had a late goal disallowed the assistant referee has made a huge error.
“I saw him to ask the question and he just told me that Paul Huntington was offside, but he wasn’t.
“Tobi Sho-Silva wasn’t offside either, so the goal should have stood. Having talked to the officials, it doesn’t make me feel any better. They’re in there talking about it, and I know I’ve been able to watch it back on video, whereas they probably haven’t yet.
“But I know that officials are marked on Key Match Incidents. Now I’m afraid that is a Key Match Incident and it’s cost us a second goal.”
