Former Barrow forward Carl Forster is to bring his North Wales Crusaders side to Barrow to help celebrate Nathan Mossop’s testimonial.
Forster left Craven Park at the end of the season to take on the coaching role with the Crusaders in succession to Anthony Murray who was appointed coach at Workington.
The fixture will take place at the Matt Johnson Prestige Stadium on Sunday January 15 (3pm kick-off) and is the first of three pre-season friendlies for the Raiders.
They follow up at home against local rivals Workington Town and Super League outfit Wigan Warriors.
The 2023 season will be Mossop’s 13th with the Raiders after signing a new one year deal and so far he has made over 250 appearances for the club, having debuted in 2009.
Looking ahead to the game Mossop said: “I’m really looking forward to getting out there on the 15th, and it will be good to lock horns with my old mate Carl Forster.
“Carl was fantastic for us and I’m sure he’ll be successful with North Wales over the next couple of years.
“I’d like to thank Steve and the club for helping arrange this fixture for my testimonial, and also North Wales for agreeing to take part. It’ll be good to see the fans again and I’m excited to get back out there playing with the lads.”
Crusaders player-coach Carl Forster said: “It’s a great honour to be a part of Mossy’s testimonial. He’s been an unbelievable servant to Barrow and I’m made up to have spent a period of that time with him.
“He’s an unbelievable professional and a good friend.”
