Barrow boss Pete Wild felt it would have been a travesty if his side hadn’t got anything from the game at Salford.
They came up with a late equaliser for a 1-1 draw against a Salford side who had gone down to 10 men towards the end of the first half.
Wild said: “That did change the game and I don’t know what their lad was doing because there was no need to make the challenge.
“I thought he had been their best player for the first half an hour.
“But it changed the way they played in that they defended their own box really well. Some of their blocks were unreal.
“They bed in and the gaps that would probably have been there beforehand aren’t there any more.
“But I was really pleased with the way we played. We had eight days to prepare and we had a plan which we stuck at and were dominant on the front foot.
“We felt that a weakness for Salford was on the edge of their box and that’s what we were looking for when Jordan Stevens let one go and got our equaliser.
“I can’t remember Josh Lewis having a serious save to make and if that one at the end had gone in for Salford it would have been a real travesty.”
Lewis had come into goal for the Bluebirds when Paul Farman was pulled out with a shoulder problem.
He had tweaked it towards the end of the last game with Swindon, had an injection and will probably need a fortnight to let it settle down.
Barrow are back in action on Thursday night when they entertain Tranmere Rovers.
