23-year-old man killed in north Cumbrian crash

A 23-year-old man has died in a north Cumbrian collision.

Reece Cowan, of Longtown, was driving a Mini Cooper involved in the incident on Friday, December 30, on Netherby Road North in Longtown shortly after 11.15pm.

The collision also involved an Audi A4.

Police, fire and ambulance attended and Mr Cowan was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Audi, a man in his 50s, also from Longtown, was taken to the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle with minor injuries. He has since been discharged.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or the moments leading up to it or anyone with dashcam footage of the vehicles driving that day or the collision.

Police would also like to identify and speak to two male cyclists who were seen at the scene, but left before police arrived, to assist with enquires.

Anyone with information is asked to report it online via www.cumbria.police.uk/reportit quoting incident number 209 of 30th December 2022 or call 101.
