Cumbrian firefighters have issued a plea to parents in their town to stop using their yard as a car park.

People dropping children off at Sedbergh’s Settlebeck School have been using the fire station’s yard and the firefighters took a picture of the vehicles waiting just before picking up time for youngsters yesterday, January 10.

In a social media post, Sedbergh Fire Station said: “Shortly after school drop off time, Sedbergh Fire Station were called to the M6 for a single car collision.

“Please can we remind our community that we are a 24/7 operational fire station.

“Our firefighters require immediate access when alerted to attend and to mobilise the appliances.

“Please do not use the fire station as a car park, waiting area or turning circle. Thank you for your understanding.”
