Sellafield Ltd is set to appear in court after a man was seriously injured at the West Cumbrian nuclear complex.
The Office for Nuclear Regulation said it had notified the firm that it will be prosecuted under the Health and Safety at Work Act after an employee fell off a ladder on October 12 2021.
The nuclear watchdog said the worker, who was carrying out maintenance and repair work, was seriously injured. It added: “The incident was a conventional health and safety matter and there was no radiological risk to the public.
“The decision to commence legal proceedings follows an investigation into the incident by ONR.”
The first hearing is scheduled to take place at Carlisle Magistrates Court on March 6.
