People with limited mobility will be able to explore a Lake District castle’s gardens, thanks to a new partnership.
Charity Lake District Mobility has teamed up with the National Trust to offer an off-road mobility scooter, known as a Tramper, at Sizergh, near Kendal.
Users can explore the formal gardens, including the kitchen garden and the rock garden, and get stunning views of the Mirror Lake and from the front of the house as well as of the property itself.
Pearl Copeland, welcome manager at Sizergh, has been instrumental in setting up the Tramper. She said: “We are really excited to be able to offer the Tramper to our visitors, it’s fantastic that more people who might not have been able to previously, can now enjoy the gardens and we are really looking forward to working with Lake District Mobility.”
Philip Wake, of Lake District Mobility, added: “Sizergh is so beautiful it is a wonderful addition to the hire sites available to our members, it is also fantastic to be working in partnership with National Trust for the first time and we are really hoping to expand this partnership in the near future.”
The Tramper is available to book from the Lake District Mobility Website for slots of two-and-a-half hours. It’s available at 10.30am and at 1.30pm.
Membership of Lake District Mobility is required but costs start from as little as £2.50 and full training will be given if users have never used a Tramper before.
