What the A595 improvements at Bothel could look like

Work to create a new junction on the A595 will restart soon.

Bad weather forced contractors to postpone surfacing work at the Bothel/Torpenhow junction and they plan to begin on February 6 – weather permitting.

Due to the rescheduling of the work, the Torpenhow road will remain closed to pedestrians until further notice.

Cumbria County Council said it will issue an update when access to the road is available.

The Torpenhow junction is part of the much wider £2.6 million A595 strategic improvement project at Bothel which has been a priority scheme for the A595 and the wider county highway network.

Councillor Keith Little, Cumbria County Council cabinet member for highways and transport, said: “Cumbria has experienced some very challenging weather over the last couple of weeks, and we regret to have had to slightly delay this project, but we hope that the local community can understand.

“I would like to thank the local residents for their patience and support with this project. I also want to remind people that local businesses remain open as usual and would like to encourage people to support local businesses wherever possible.”
