Workington Town completed their build-up to the League One season when they beat a Bradford Bulls side 38-10 at Derwent Park.
Bradford start their Championship programme against Whitehaven tomorrow so it was a team made up mainly of Reserves and Academy players with one or two not selected for the seniors.
Nevertheless it was a good workout for Anthony Murray’s men and one which pleased the coach a fortnight away from the start of the League One campaign at London Skolars.
Town made a positive start and had scored two tries within the first nine minutes.

Full-back Jordan Burns was first to cross when he finished off clinically and then new recruir Sean Sabutey intercepted on halfway and raced away to score. With Carl Forber out through injury Cieran Walker took on kicking duties and added the conversion.
After 20 minutes another new recruit Earl Hurst scored a try under the posts and Walker’s conversion made it 16-0.

Burns scored his second try after 33 minutes but right on half-time the visitors managed their first points of the game with a try in the corner which was converted.
A 20-6 lead was entirely reflective of the first-half and within a minute of the re-start Blain Marwood had shot through for his side’s fifth try for Walker to convert.
Caine Barnes was next to get over on 55 minutes when he forced his way through tackles on the line and again Walker converted.

Town’s final try came in 62 minutes from Walker who again added the extras, but Bradford kept going and on 70 minutes scored a second try which went unconverted.
