Fighting to avoid the drop from the North West Counties League Cleator Moor Celtic picked up a very good point on the road.
They travelled to take-on promotion-chasing Euxton Villa, currently fourth in Division One North, and drew 1-1.
Tom Houghton had given Celtic the lead on 16 minutes with Alex Colquhoun grabbed the equaliser 12 minutes later.
Manager Brian Dawson said: “This was a much-improved performance following last week’s disappointing result.
“We asked for a reaction and we certainly got that. The boys executed our game plan really well and in truth could have come away with more than a point.
“Euxton are a very good football team that ask questions of you defensively but we managed to restrict them to minimal chances and when called upon the impressive Luke McKnight kept us in it with a couple of fine saves.
“There were lots of impressive individuals who shone for us but the most pleasing thing from the result was collectively we produced a disciplined and mature performance.
“Hopefully this can continue and gives us a platform to build on.
“The games start coming thick and fast for us now. We’ve got Blackpool at home on Tuesday when we have to show the same desire and intensity.
“If we do that then we will have a good chance of getting some more points on the board.”
AFC Blackpool are currently in 11th place in the League and will travel to west Cumbria on the back of a 4-2 home win over Garstang which enabled them to leapfrog their opponents.
