Women urged to turn up and play at Cumberland FA event

Cumberland FA will be hosting a Turn up and Play event next month to kick start the women’s over-35 opportunities across the county

The event will be held on Sunday, March 5 at Harraby 3G on Edgehill Road, Carlisle, from 2.30pm to 4pm.

Hosted alongside a Women’s Festival, the over-35s session will be an opportunity for women – whether experienced or new to the game – to go along and have a kick about.

More than 30 women have completed the over-35 provision survey and will be invited to attend the event.

Cumberland FA football development officer, Helen Aitchison said: “We thought it would be a great opportunity to invite women down alongside the women’s festival to kickstart the Over 35 provision in the county. The plan is to run a number of these through the summer months across Cumberland.

“Whether you come along on your own, with a friend or a few of you – join us and we will put teams together on the day to have some match time in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.

“We recommend participants wear shinpads and appropriate footwear and there will be no cost to attend the event in Carlisle.”

Cumberland FA are working with local teams across the county to develop regular sessions for women to turn up and play. More information will be available as details are confirmed.
