Maryport Rugby Club has been making big strides into youth development over the last 12 months.
But they are also active at the opposite end of the age scale.
Last season, the club formed a Masters team and tomorrow they start the new campaign against Barrow Masters (12.30pm ko).
It’s the first part of a double header for the club as that will be followed by the Cumberland ARL side taking on more south Cumbrian opposition, Roose Pioneers.
Ian Ivison said: “The Masters team was formed halfway through last season so this is the first full season for them. They have continued to train right through the winter so they are really looking forward to this opening fixture.
“It will be the second pre-season game for our open age side and our coach Mark Foster has trimmed the squad after naming 29 for the opener with Seaton.
“It’s to give players more game time and rest some of those carrying injuries.
“Those not playing tomorrow will be playing in the next warm up fixture at Egremont.”
The open age squad is: Liam Anderson, Scott Atherton, Joel Baker, Luke Baker, Kieran Featherstone, Rob Ferguson, Craig Foster, Liam Hanley, Iestyn Hughes, Chris Ivison, Ciaran McCrickerd, Oliver Metcalf, Ricky Morrison, Ellis Nixon, Josh Patterson, Carl Steele, Gary Taylor, Grant Underwood, Ethan Williams, Connor Wilson, Alex Woodhall. Kick-off 2pm.
