Carlisle United, without a goal in three games, will be up against one of League Two’s watertight defences tomorrow.
As Paul Simpson’s side try to bounce back from a 4-0 spanking from Mansfield on Tuesday, they face a Colchester side in rude health.
They are unbeaten in five games and have suffered only one defeat in their last nine League Two games.
Significantly, given Carlisle’s recent lack of goals, the Essex visitors have not conceded in more than three and a half hours of football.
In addition they visit Carlisle looking for a club record – a sixth successive league away win.
Their young manager Matt Bloomfield. 39, played 488 games for Wycombe Wanderers and is in his first job as a boss.
He told the club website: “The belief and the confidence that we’ve taken from the last five games on the road is obviously valuable to us.
“But we’ve spoken a lot over the last couple of weeks about starting every week with zero.
“We can take confidence and belief from the previous results but we can’t get carried away with it and every game starts with having to be ready at that first whistle.
“I think the togetherness and the team spirit that the boys are showing at the moment is absolutely brilliant.
“I’m really proud of the way that they’ve knitted together so quickly.”
