Barrow produced a battling performance to win 1-0 at Bradford City to check their hosts’ promotion charge.
It was a welcome success for Pete Wild’s side as they had not won for six previous games.
The only goal on 24 minutes from Josh Kay clinched a double for the Bluebirds to back up their home win over Mark Hughes’ side earlier in the season.
Bradford had started quickly and Barrow were on the back foot for a while before gradually coming more into the game and midway through the first-half had something to hang onto.
Kay robbed Adam Clayton on halfway and after Harrison Neal had driven forward, Kay was there to provide the finish from Ged Garner’s low cross into the box.
Bradford had not played like promotion prospects and were given the treatment from their fans at half-time, dismayed they had failed to test Barrow keeper Paul Farman.
Former Bradford defender Niall Canavan was close to doubling the Barrow lead but he just couldn’t get on the end of a Kay knockdown in the home six yard box.
Midfielder Robbie Gotts had a shot easily saved by home keeper Harry Lewis but Bradford, despite a 77% possession pull and ten efforts, they couldn’t manage a single one on target.
The nearest they came to salvaging something was from a late header by Sam Stubbs which went over the bar.
