A man remains in a critical condition following a collision on the A66 which killed two people.

The collision happened between the Bridgefoot and Stainburn roundabouts, near Workington, last Monday, February 13.

It involved a blue Renault Clio and a red Volkswagen Golf at about 5.55pm.

Two people in the Clio, Patricia and Gareth Evans died at the scene and the driver of the Golf, a man, remains in a critical condition in Newcastle.

Police are appealing for witnesses who were driving on Ramsey Brow and Stainburn Road, Workington leading to Workington Academy.

Several vehicles were driving towards the roundabout behind a lorry, between 5.45pm and 5.53pm.

Officers would like to speak to any drivers travelling in that area that seen the vehicles involved prior to the collision, and are appealing for anyone who has relevant dashcam footage to get in touch.

Officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or has relevant dashcam footage to get in touch.
