A man will appear at Carlisle Crown Court next month, accused of a rape in a city hotel.
Talel Rmaida, 20, of no fixed address, appeared at North Cumbria Magistrates’ Court today, February 20, charged with rape. He was remanded in custody and will next appear at Carlisle Crown Court on March 20.
The charge follows an investigation into an incident reported to have occurred on the morning of Saturday, February 18, in a city centre hotel.
The victim, a woman in her 20s, is being supported by specialist officers.
A spokesman from Cumbria Constabulary said: “We would like to remind everyone that criminal proceedings are live. It is extremely important that there should be no reporting, comments or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice ongoing proceedings.”
