In a remarkable first-half Kendal Town squandered a two goal lead to turn round 3-2 behind at West Didsbury and Chorlton.
With no further additions to the score-line it meant the Mintcakes slipped to a defeat which was a bit hard to take in the end.
Starting positively on the front foot Kendal dominated and took the lead on 21 minutes when Elliot Wilson rose really well to head home a corner.
It was really no surprise when Kendal doubled their lead on the half hour.
A fine cross-field pass by Paul Jarvis was collected by Ryan Winder and a pinpoint cross was headed home by Tom Kilifin.
But then, very unexpectedly after such a high-powered start, it all went wrong for Kendal.
On 39 minutes a corner was somehow bundled into the net past Danny Roccia by Liam Delaney.
Four minutes later it was Ben Elliott who nodded in the equaliser and in the second minute of time added on Elliott again was on the end of a cross to force it past Roccia.
If ever a manager had to quickly change his half-time team talk it was those last eight minutes which defined Jimmy Marshall’s interval discussions with his players.
It was a similar pattern in the second half with Kendal doing well and dominating play but this time they couldn’t find the killer touch in front of goal.
Elliot Wilson had strong claims for a penalty when he went down in the box and when Winder put over a superb cross there was just nowhere there to provide the final touch it needed.
The home side had one serious attack in the second half and hit the bar with Roccia grateful to clutch the rebound.
For Kendal Martin Grundy and Kilifin both had close range efforts blocked by some brave defending.
There was one late chance for Kendal when Kilifin got to a cross ahead of the home keeper but his header was wide.
