Tickets prices for Cumbria’s new £4.5 million luxury cinema have been revealed.
Workington’s Parkway Cinema, owned by brothers Richard and Gerrard Parkes, will officially open on March 17 – and tickets for the opening week are now on sale.
Adult tickets are set to cost £9.10 while child tickets will be £7.10. Teens will be able to purchase tickets for £8.30 and those over 55 will pay £7.10.
Students are also able to get discounted tickets for £8.30 and families can buy a bundle ticket which includes four tickets, with a maximum of two adults, two medium drinks, one pick’d ‘n’ mix’d and a choice of large popcorn, nachos or crunchy crisps for £44.10.
Richard said: “We’re delighted we’re finally selling tickets and that there’s only a week to go! Everything is perfect, the screens are now all in position, we’ve had the sound and projection fine tuned, it’s all coming together.
“We’re just waiting on the final films being delivered this week to test and then that’s it, we’re ready to go and we can’t wait.”
“Everybody knows if you buy a bottle of wine in the supermarket its a lot less than when you actually have it in a restaurant. What we did want to do, is keep the price within reach so it is not a ridiculous amount of money at all, so the most expensive ticket is below a tenner and that’s for a full adult weekend ticket.
“We think the tickets are about right in price and and we think it’s worth it, we just can’t wait for people to come along and experience our cinema.”
Purchasing tickets online is 20p cheaper for movie-goers as Richard said it allows seats to be allocated in advance and takes pressure off staff.

He added: “We don’t charge any more for 3D, just for the glasses which you can keep and use again and there’s no such thing as a premium seat – all of the seats are the best seats.
“Tickets are also slightly cheaper for films that start before 5pm through the week and we have senior screening tickets for £5 on a Tuesday which includes a cup of tea and a biscuit in the price.”
It also boasts some of the best cinema technology on the market including full Dolby surround sound, 4k laser projection and 3D capabilities – with one special 15-metre screen verging on an IMAX in size and picture quality.
The first big films to be shown in the new cinema are the family-friendly Shazam 2: Fury of the Gods and space time-travel film 65.
Other films being shown in the cinema’s first week of opening include I Wanna Dance with Somebody, The Whale, Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, Creed 3, Scream VI, Avatar: The Way of Water, My Sailor My Love and Megamind.
For Avatar: The Way of Water, the cinema is aiming to bring in the 4k high frame rate 3D version of the film, which is the best quality of 3D available worldwide.
Richard added that tickets were already selling fast and that anyone who enquired for tickets early was given priority access to the website earlier today.
