Workington were comfortable 3-0 winners over struggling Glossop to make amends for a disappointing defeat at City of Liverpool last week.
The Reds had responded in mid-week with a 4-0 win over Carlisle City in the semi-final of the Fred Conway County Cup but manager Danny Grainger wanted another positive display in the League.
He got it too as his side dominated the game from the start and once they had made the breakthrough after 37 minutes there was only going to be one winner.
It didn’t help Glossop that they had to play with 10 men from the 70th minute when Moses York was sent off for a second yellow but at that stage Workington were well in control.
Dav Symington led the way for the Reds with a brace, including a brilliant 35-yard free kick and he could have finished with a hat-trick.
His 30 yard free-kick early in the game came back off the foot of the post and then an acrobatic bicycle kick was turned behind by keeper Craig Ellison.
But it was from that corner that the Reds took the lead on 37 minutes. Ellison couldn’t hold onto the flag kick and after a shot had been blocked Scott Allison thumped home the rebound from close range.

Charlie Birch had gone close with a header which was just over after great work between Conor Tinnion and Symington down the left.
Then in the second minute of time added on Symington powered home his spectacular free kick into the top corner with Ellison unable to move.
Glossop did enjoy some pressure at the start of the second half and home keeper Jim Atkinson made a very good flying save to keep out a strong shot from Joe Maguire.

Workington wrapped-up the points in the 61st minute when Symington won possession just inside the Glossop box before rifling a low shot past Ellison.
Substitute Lewis Reilly saw a shot saved by Ellison while Bobby Carroll was just off target with a deflected shot from the edge of the area.
“Full marks to the lads for the way they have responded in these last two games after last Saturday. We want to build momentum right to the end of the season so that we reach our goal of promotion.

“It’s the first time we have had a full squad to pick from and had to leave two disappointed players out of the match-day 16,” said manager Grainger.
Workington are back in action on Tuesday night when they travel to Colne for a twice postponed fixture.
