A woman has reported being sexually assaulted while travelling on a bus.

The woman, in her 20s, was a passenger on the 30 service from Workington bus station to Whitehaven’s Duke Street on Thursday, March 2 between 4pm and 5pm.

Police are appealing for information as part of their investigation.

The suspect is described as being a white man, aged in his 40s, around 6ft, of an average build with brown, scruffy hair. He was also wearing a dark-coloured T-shirt, dark-coloured work pants and a pair of work boots.

The victim is being supported by specialist officers, police said.

Officers would like to hear from anyone who was on this bus at the time of the offence to help to identify the man.

Anyone with information relating to this incident can report online at www.cumbria.police.uk/report-it, quoting incident number 196 of 2 March 2023 or call 101.

Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
