Youngsters across Cumbria were given an Easter treat, thanks to a group of Masonic bikers.
On Sunday, the Cumbria Chapter of the Widows Son’s Masonic Bikers Association delivered over 400 Easter eggs and handed over donations of over £1,800 to the children’s wards at the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle, Whitehaven’s West Cumberland Hospital and Jigsaw, Cumbria’s Children’s Hospice.
Earlier in the week, they visited James Rennie School on Carlisle. Each destination got a donation to their charity as well as chocolate eggs, teddies and warm blankets.
Neil Dixon, of Cumbria Freemasons, said: “It was a wonderful gesture and we are very proud to be able to deliver these eggs, as well as donations to the children throughout Cumbria this week on motorbikes.
“We must thank all the members of Cumbria Freemasons and friends who donated both funds and eggs to help with this wonderful cause and most importantly to help the children less fortunate than ourselves.
“The Widows Sons is a motorcycling group and is open to all who enjoy the sport of motorcycling, and together they help raise awareness of the good work that we do as Freemasons in the community, as well are raising money for local charities.
“To see the joy it brought to the children when we arrived on motorbikes made every minute worthwhile and its a great example of local freemasons supporting local charities, and the community.”
