Workington Reds boss Danny Grainger will make changes to his side over the two Easter games – but expects equally good performances from the selections.
Reds have Witton Albion on Saturday afternoon and travel to Kidsgrove on Monday – two tough looking fixtures.
Grainger was unhappy with the performance he saw last week in a 1-0 defeat at lowly Widnes and is looking for a positive reaction in the two Easter games.
“Lads will be playing for their shirts over the last two League games and the play-offs so I expect us to be back on song. That was a blip at Widnes, nowhere near where we should have been, and I know the players are much better than that.
“It makes sense to freshen things up over two fixtures in 48 hours and I have a squad of 20 available so there could be up to eight changes between the two games.
“Witton are a good team with everything to play for as they close in on the play-off positions. They will be short of goals tomorrow because of suspensions and injuries but I know their manager John Macken will have them well organised and fired-up for this one.
“Most of the clubs in the League still have something to play for and Witton certainly do, and really I’m expecting a very good game,” said the manager.
After Kidsgrove Workington just have two more NPL West games to play. They go to 1874 Northwich on April 15 and finish-off at home to Colne on April 22.
A home semi-final will be the prize on Tuesday, April 25 with the deciding game of the season set for April 29.
Then on Tuesday, May 2, Reds have the Fred Conway County Cup final against Penrith at Carlisle’s Brunton Park.
