Carlisle United moved back into the automatic promotion places with a 2-0 home win over Tranmere Rovers.
A magnificent crowd of almost 13,500 saw United start the game with a flourish and by half-time they enjoyed a two goal lead.
Tranmere came more into it in the second-half but United were in no mood to throw it away and won well.
Top-scorer Kristian Dennis was the hero as, restored to the starting line-up, he scored both goals and in doing so ended a United goal drought after they hadn’t scored in their last four games.
Dennis ended his own personal dry spell as there his first goals since January 31st and they moved him on to 2-0 for the season.
Carlisle had waited 363 minutes for a goal when Dennis notched the opener after only three minutes. It couldn’t have been easier, a simple tap-in after Omari Patrick robbed Jordan Turnbull and found the striker.
It was virtually all Carlisle in the first half and their dominance paid off when Dennis grabbed his second on 40 minutes when Jack Armer headed a fine Owen Moxon cross into his path.
Tranmere keeper Mateusz Hewelt made an excellent save to deny Patrick a third United goal when the hosts rounded-off an excellent 45 minutes work.
Substitute Jamie Devitt and Patrick both wasted good opportunities in the second half and Hewelt made another fine stop to thwart Jack Ellis as Tranmere rarely threatened.
