A couple’s vision to set up a new eatery in a South Cumbrian village is set to become a reality after a change-of-use application was approved.
Matt and Sarah Jackson want to rejuvenate the former Gado Gado restaurant along The Promenade, Arnside.
Permission to turn the premises into a drinking establishment with expanded food provision was granted by South Lakeland District Council – now a part of Westmorland and Furness Council – at the end of last month.
A meeting of SLDC’s licensing sub-committee in October 2022 gave the Jacksons permission to sell alcohol until midnight, seven days a week, at the site.
At the time, the couple said their eatery was to be named JJ Crossfields and would provide the public with later-evening options in Arnside.
Gill Sherratt, licensing consultant at Napthens Solicitors, told the meeting the business would be ‘food-led’ and ‘not all about the alcohol’.
