An investigation into a massive Maryport fire, which gutted a town bakery, is continuing.
The fire at the Bakehouse on Senhouse Street took place on Wednesday, February 15. At its height, 10 fire crews battled the blaze and the main shopping street was closed for several hours.
Building expert Stobbarts Ltd, of Workington, was brought in to stabilise and demolish the mid-terrace property overnight due the danger it posed.
Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service said its investigation was not progressing as the building, while secured, has not been deemed safe to enter.
Work to make sure the building was structurally sound was under the management of Allerdale council at the time, but the authority has now been dissolved and a new unitary authority, Cumberland Council, is now looking after it.

A fire service spokesman said: “We are continuing the investigation to identify the cause. The fire scene investigation will not progress until such time that the building is declared safe to enter.
“An investigation of this length and nature is normal for the size and scale of this incident.”
