Belle Vue kept up their extraordinary record of success at Peterborough with a thumping 55-35 away win last night.
The victory was the Aces’ eighth in their last nine visits to the East of England Arena, and it was also their second win on the road in the space of five days to boost their Premiership prospects.
West Cumbrian ace Dan Bewley had a modest night, by his own high standards, picking up eight points from his four rides.
Another former Workington rider Charles Wright scored 10 and a bonus point but they were all outshone by new Australian sensation Jaimon Lidsey who starred with 14 points from five rides, including a win in Heat 15.
Aces rider Tom Brennan (7+2) said: “Now that we’ve got a few meetings under our belts we’re starting to find our feet and settle down, and we’re starting to show what this Belle Vue team can do.
“We’re much more cohesive as a unit than we were a few weeks ago. The level of communication has picked up significantly, the team is working as a team and we have the results to show for it.
“We weren’t just recording heat wins, we were packing the minor places as well and I believe that was another key difference for us on the night.”
Emil Sayfutdinov smashed the Leicester track record as Ipswich progressed to the KO Cup semi-finals with a 47-43 away win.
Sayfutdinov took half a second off the previous mark set by Nick Morris in his first ride, and proceeded to score a 12-point maximum in his first appearance at the Pidcock Motorcycles Arena, Beaumont Park.
Cumbrian Richard Lawson, a former Workington Comet, top-scored for the Lions with 10+1, including two race wins, as they exited the competition by a ten-point aggregate margin. Ipswich will now face Peterborough in the last four.
Witches boss Ritchie Hawkins, who also used to ride for Workington, said: “It was definitely our best performance of the season. I am dlighted with the boys and how they bounced back from the disappointment of last Thursday.
“To come here with six men and ride like that was terrific. I am delighted with all six of them.
“We spoke before the meeting and told the boys we have got three trophies to win this year, and we certainly don’t want to lose the opportunity to win one of them in April. The boys want to win and progress, and you could see their determination tonight from the word go, and as a team we stepped it up a level.”
