Holders Northside got through their President’s Cup with Deer Orchard, but only after a 10-goal thriller.
The mid-week clash in the Workington Sunday League was a cracker between two evenly matched sides, although Northside just had the edge.
Orchard had taken the lead with a fine free-kick from Luke Ivison but then four goals in 13 minutes for Northside seemed to have turned the tie on its head.
Outstanding teenager Chad Grisedale (2), Tommy Whitehead and Jamie Bramley were on target to take Northside in at half-time with a 4-1 lead.
Orchard came out with all guns blazing on the restart and two quick goals from Ben Wright had them back in it.
Callum Killick steadied Northside’s nerves with a fifth goal but the tie was back in the melting pot when Orchard were awarded a penalty and Wright completed his hat-trick.

It wasn’t really settled until Whitehead scored his second and Northside’s sixth before the end.
Northside had been presented with the League trophy at Sunday’s game with Senhouse FC which they won 4-1 with goals from Gary O’Driscoll (2), Whitehead and Bramley. Declan Moore scored for Senhouse.
In the other game Sun Inn beat Maryport Athletic 3-0 with goals from Dan Pearson, Louie Elliott and Kieron McCluskey.
Games on Sunday are: Sun Inn v Sun Inn Athletic and Dearham Commercial v Maryport Athletic.
