Cockermouth have to make changes for their Papa John’s competition quarter final at Goole.
Scrum-half Mark Watson is on holiday so Luke Armstrong, who had been an admirable deputy earlier in the season, comes in.
The Wasps will have strong-running centre Harry Bibby back in the side after missing last week’s 20-19 win over West Hartlepool.
Coach Jeff Clare said: “We are taking a strong squad and very much looking forward to the game.
“I have watched Goole on video and they are a strong side with a big pack of forwards who will be confident at home.
“They have beaten some good teams this season to win a strong Yorkshire 1 League but we are going with confidence.
“Carried on by the emotion of the occasion I thought we played very well last week. Having watched the video and analysed our play I think we were probably only at 70 per cent of what we are capable of.
“In very well attended training sessions this week I’ve tried to concentrate on areas where we can improve on rather than look at what Goole have to offer.
“We are taking a few supporters with us on the coach and I hope we can put on a performance for them which will take us through to the semi-final the following week.”
Wigton face their biggest game for a number of years when they travel to play West Leeds on Saturday in the Papa John’s competition.
But as Wigton rebuild after several years out of the limelight no great pressure is being put on their young squad.
Coach David Warwick said: “We are taking a bus full of supporters and there is no expectation on this young team. We are determined to enjoy our day out and take a lot from the experience.
“The more games and exposure to this level that the team gets, the more they will improve.
“West Leeds finished eighth in Yorkshire One, but looking at their results the improvement after Christmas shows they will be very tough opponents and include e-Workington Town and Leeds winger Mark Calderwood in their ranks.”
Wigton were going to select their squad of 18 after last night’s training session but will welcome back promising young forward Will Wilson and centre James Paisley.
Unfortunately powerful back rowers Josh Nicholson and Stephen Harris are still injured along with top points scorer Stuart Carruthers.
Wigton got through to the quarter final stage when opponents Hartlepool withdrew four hours before the scheduled kick-off at Lowmoor Road last Saturday.
Penrith lead their Pool in the Papa John’s Trophy and complete the section tomorrow at Moortown who won their home game with Bowdon last week.
They knew nothing less than a bonus point win would be needed to keep their interest alive in their Papa John mini league game against Morpeth and that is what they eventually achieved with a 36-21 win.
Each team has won a home game but three bonus points means the Winters Park men have the advantage and now have to win at Moortown to book a place in the semi.
The clubs go into the final game on – Penrith 7pts; Moortown 6pts; Bowdon 6pts; Morpeth 4pts.
The Penrith squad is: Andy Rogers, Craig Price, Adam Howe, Chris Jackson, Dylan Thomson, Scott Lancaster, Aaron Cavaghan, Archie Rattray, George Graham, Nick Dudson, Harvey Johnston, Joe Spencely, Jamie McNaughton, Fraser Nicholson, Rob Coward, Craig Tyson, James Hall plus one more to be announced.
