Although it was a nice night and good running for the hounds the numbers of entries were down for last night’s HTA meeting at Oulton last night.

Possibly a bit of Oulton fatigue was at play with only five senior hounds taking part in the first race.

It was a battle again between Silver Streak and Rex The Rocket. This time it was Silver Streak who managed to finish in front despite Rex the Rocket leading most of the way round the trail.

Rex The Rocket remains in second place in the championship table whilst Silver Streak moves up to fifth.

It was a good night for the McMaster kennel as they also won the pups with Silver Dream. She came onto the finish with a small lead from litter mate Embrace but she managed to stay in front and cross the line in first place.

Embrace had a chance to win on Sunday and again last night but just hesitated coming up the long finish toward the line.

The win for Silver Dream takes her one point behind Graham Reid’s Mel in the Puppy Championship.

The open Restricted race was won by Shaun and Donna Hetherington’s Splendid Mickey who is running well at the moment along with their other hound Tesla which finished  third.

The third place was enough to take Tesla to the top of the Open Restricted Points Competition two points in front of kennel mate Splendid Mickey.

The next trails on Saturday are across the county at Helton which is the other side of Penrith with the first race at noon.

These trails give a look round for all the hounds in advance of the Major HTA May Day Trail to be held on the May Bank Holiday.

For the May 1 meeting additional prize money is given with each trail being worth £160 plus rosettes. In addition each race winner will receive one of the Lillian Harrison trophies.
