Craig Bristoe

Cumberland FA has announced the recruitment of Craig Bristoe as the new disability football ambassador in the county.

Craig has a wealth of experience in grassroots football as both a coach and committee member, and started one of the first junior disability teams in the county in 2018 at Whitehaven AFC.

He has also been involved in organising and running the schools and grassroots disability events in the county.

The purpose of the role is to provide support and guidance to grassroots clubs in Cumberland who would like to explore offering opportunities to disabled people in their community.

Craig said: “I am looking forward to starting this role. I have loved being involved in our set-up at Whitehaven AFC and the junior ability counts league.

“I am excited to see what the future holds for ability counts football in the county and looking forward to helping clubs in the area.”

Ray Sempill, Cumberland FA football development officer, said: “We appreciate that volunteers in clubs are already busy doing a lot of fantastic work within clubs. So, we are offering this support to help those clubs who are keen to offer disability football in their club.

“We already have a fantastic network of supportive clubs in the disability space and Craig’s role should bolster that support offer. We look forward to the future of disability football in Cumberland.”
