A woman has appeared in court accused of intimidating a witness who gave evidence in her brother’s murder trial.
Rianna Hull, 31, faces two charges arising out of alleged incidents which are said to have occurred late last October.
One charge alleges that Hull intimidated a witness intending to obstruct the course of justice by using verbal abuse and threatening language during an incident in Carlisle, knowing or believing the woman was a witness in legal proceedings.
This is alleged to have occurred on October 26 and been related to court trial proceedings involving her brother.
On that same date it is further alleged that Hull was responsible for a racially aggravated assault by beating.
When she appeared at Carlisle Magistrates’ Court, Hull pleaded not guilty to the two charges.
A brief summary of the allegations was provided by a prosecutor.
District Judge John Temperley sent the case to Carlisle Crown Court with a first hearing scheduled for June 5.
In the meantime Hull, formerly of Brookside, Carlisle, has been granted conditional bail.
