The West Cumbria Amalgamation won’t be racing on Saturday, but it’s the weather and not the coronation which has intervened.
The Cumbrian birds are due to be racing from Cannock and the weather forecast for the next two or three days in the Midlands is very poor – even being described as horrendous.
The race controller and the Amalgamation committee will continue to monitor the weather in the hope of getting a race, but no particular day has been earmarked at the moment.
Two weeks ago from Charnock Richard the committee monitored the weather and eventually got in a race on the Tuesday which proved to be a good one.
When the race does take place, to mark the King’s coronation a silver salver will be presented to the winner of the Amalgamation.
