Award-winning broadcaster Greg Foot will appear at a Lake District science festival this weekend.
Greg, a former pupil of Ulverston Victoria High School, will be giving two talks at Windermere Science Festival at Windermere Jetty Museum.
Greg will talk about his adventure to the world’s highest lab at Everest Base Camp and the cutting-edge research that was carried out there that transformed ideas about medicine.
She will also use stunning videos to show visitors the high-tech submersibles that took him down 1,000ft into the depths of the ocean, plus discuss his work with the BBC’s Blue Planet II team.
Greg has gone on to become one of the UK’s leading science communicators. He presents the hugely popular show Sliced Bread on BBC Radio 4 and can be seen on science documentaries and shows – his YouTube videos receiving a staggering 40 million views.
Nick Greenall, director of Windermere Science Festival, said: “Greg’s career, which has taken him to some of the most extreme environments on earth, demonstrates that working in science can lead to some fantastic adventures. We can’t wait to hear his talks.”
Greg said: “I’m looking forward to returning to Cumbria to share my adventures in science and demonstrating how fun and exhilarating working in this field can be.”
Windermere Science Festival is a partnership with Lakeland Arts. Last year’s festival attracted more than 1,000 people over two days, with 400 local children engaging in science activities in the run up to the event.
