Nigel Dawson, one of the great stalwarts of Millom cricket, is to be remembered in a special fundraising day at the club on Sunday, May 28.
It is 10 years now since Nigel died at the age of 62 and his family want to mark the latest anniversary in a positive way.
The day will consist of a cricket tournament featuring a team full of the legends of yesteryear, children’s activities, other fundraising initiatives, and finishing with evening entertainment.
A GoFundMe page has also been set up to help raise money which will be donated to two of Nigel’s passions – Millom Cricket Club and his many years of service to Cumbria Under-11s cricket team.
The money will be divided between Millom Cricket Club Junior Section and The Cumbria Cricket Opportunities Fund which offers all children selected to represent the county the opportunity to participate in cricketing experiences offered by the county.
His three sons Graham, Steven and Andrew will lead teams in a T10 style-tournament with a cricketing Legends team competing as well.
After the two semi-finals the winners will meet in a 100-format final.
The day will end with entertainment in the clubhouse and a very special auction of cricketing memorabilia.
The family have a target of £1,000 on their GoFundMe page. Donate here.
