Talks are still going on about a merger between the Workington and Egremont Sunday leagues.
A consultation session was held last night, May 16, with club and league representatives and members of the Cumberland FA.
The remit was to discuss a proposal to merge both leagues which was based on feedback received from players and managers.
Ben Snowdon, the County FA chief executive, said: “The feedback received this season was mainly positive but some areas still need to be taken away for consideration and then discussed with the respective league committees.
“Following this, a definitive proposal will be put to the clubs and a final decision made.”
Both leagues have seen a steady decline in competing clubs over recent years and a merger has been talked about for a while.
One of the biggest sticking points is that the leagues play at different times – Egremont play in the mornings and Workington in the afternoons.
