Man in court accused of causing partner GBH at Center Parcs site

A man accused of a serious attack on his partner at the Center Parcs holiday village near Penrith is to stand trial later this year.

Paul Gray, 41, faces three charges arising out of alleged incidents at the Whinfell site last month.

One alleges that Gray unlawfully and maliciously inflicted grievous bodily harm on the woman by stamping on her foot and breaking a bone.

A second charge alleges suffocation and that Gray strangled the woman, which affected her ability to breathe and constituted a battery of her.

There is also a third charge which also, separately, alleges grievous bodily harm.

All three charges arise out of incidents which are said to have occurred in a lodge at the holiday complex between 18th and 21st April.

When he appeared at Carlisle Crown Court earlier today, remotely, over a video link, Gray pleaded not guilty to all three charges.

His case was adjourned for a jury trial. This is due to start in the week of 16th October and, it is estimated, will last two to three days.

In the meantime Gray, of Dumbrees Road, West Derby, Liverpool, will remain remanded in custody.
